Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System
Parking Garage Opens
BILOXI, Miss. – The Department of Veterans Affairs Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System announces the opening of a new parking garage on the Biloxi campus.
The five-level, 1,000 stall parking garage offers expanded parking for Veterans, visitors and employees closer to the medical facilities. Parking in the garage includes 50 handicap spaces, two elevators, a camera system and multiple emergency assistance stations where two-way communication can be established with VA police who work on campus. The first and second levels are for designated patient parking only.
“We are excited to offer our patients and employees free covered parking closer to the hospital,” Thomas Wisnieski, VAGCVHCS Director, said. “The parking garage is only the first of several new and expanded services at our Biloxi campus.”
The new parking garage is one of four ongoing construction projects at the Biloxi VA Medical Center that was made possible through VA’s Capital Asset Realignment for Enhanced Services. A new 64-bed Mental Health building, a 26-bed Blind Rehabilitation Center and a 96-bed Community Living Center are scheduled to open later this year and in early 2012.
The VAGCVHCS serves approximately 60,000 veterans along the Gulf Coast, and operates VA medical facilities in South Mississippi, South Alabama and Northwest Florida.
