Ribbon Cutting for dedication cermony

Biloxi's Dedication Cermony

A large crowd of Veterans, employees and visitors witnessed the dedication of the new facilities on the Biloxi campus on Dec. 16. Deputy Under Secretary for Health for Operations and Management William Schoenhard served as guest speaker. Five new buildings were dedicated: the new mental health building, community living center, blind rehab center, clinical addition and parking garage. Staying true to the $310 million-plus project’s namesake (Project Acorn), Director Thomas Wisnieski’s metaphor put the event in proper perspective. “Like an oak tree born from an acorn, our growth will be rooted in a strong foundation that supports the many branches of our health care system,” he said during the event. Flu Shot

Flu Shots

The seasonal flu vaccine is available to all eligible and enrolled veterans at any of the Department of Veterans Affairs Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System facilities. Veterans seeking a flu shot should visit one of the VAGCVHCS facilities along the Gulf Coast in Biloxi, Miss., Mobile, Ala., Pensacola, Fla., Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. and Panama City, Fla., between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, but not on federal holidays. Veterans who receive care from the VAGCVHCS are encouraged to get their flu shot from their local VA medical facility, and any Veterans who have received their shot elsewhere should let their Patient Aligned Care Team know.
