PANAMA CITY, Fla. – Hopefully, the lives of approximately 80 homeless veterans will improve after their visit to the homeless veterans stand down event in Panama City on Sept. 30.

Members of the Panama City Community Based Outpatient Clinic were present to assist veterans in registering for VA health care benefits and a variety of other programs. Also on hand were representatives from the Pensacola Vet Center and the newly-hired Panama City Vet Center staffs.

Many community-based support organizations such as the Gulf Coast Workforce Board were present to help veterans find jobs and to provide other services to them.

The VA Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System either hosts or participates in these homeless veterans stand down events along the Gulf Coast during this time of year. In Pensacola, the stand down will be held at the Joint Ambulatory Care Center on Oct. 22. The Biloxi area stand down is scheduled for Nov. 6 and the Mobile CBOC will participate in the Mobile area stand down on Nov. 18.
